It was introduced via the pet trade in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Pinellas counties, Florida, and is established on Stock Island, Monroe County (Bartlett and Bartlett, 2006, Guide and Reference to the Crocodilians, Turtles, and Lizards of Eastern and Central North America (North of Mexico).
